One of our stable way back when. This car had a full service history from new, and was in great condition. For only being a 2 wheel drive and 1.8 litre it was still more than a little fun to drive.
The drive train was unusual, being adapted from a car designed for 4 wheel drive, this had a longitudinal engine driving a gearbox behind it, then the power was sent back forwards to the front wheels, complicated but yet keeping things simple for the 4 wheel drive version.
It was still an entertaining drive, precise and solid on the road, allowing fun when on a few occasions we I found a slippery round-a-bout to play with, still sliding its tail out in an ultimately controllable manner.
Fun indeed. Sold on to a collector, where from all evidence it probably still resides.
