So when the XR2i came out, I dreamed of owning one, and eventually it came to pass that I could finally afford one for the sum of £5000. The car was a black 1.6 8v CVH car, and although these cars had their limitations such as limited rev range, pretty much topping out at 5 grand, they were still a lot of fun once you came to terms with what needed to be done to get the most from them.
The white zetec 1.8 16v car came later, I missed the black one after a year or so of selling it, and decided it was time for another. the zetec engine was crammed into its engine back and yes the car did indeed go, but somehow lacked the soul of the CVH. Perhaps that was more down to the modability of the 1.6 car, in it having built in a factory adjustable fuel regulator, and a a few tweaks that Cooper had added for me from his extensive Ford knowledge.
Either way it was fun, but I moved on soon after.
